Markus Hoft

was born in Hanau, Germany and startet with training in mime and juggling and clown before his discovered contemporary dance. Starting as a hobby he followed his passion at age 27 with his first fulltime contemporary dance training Moving Arts, Köln. Afterwards training in physical theater at Ecole Philippe Gauliere, London (2001/2) and stepping into the 3rd year of Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in Dundee (SSCD) (2003/4). His choreography was choosen for the end of year show. 

He performed at resolution festival, London, with Kirstie Simson at Chisenhale Dance Space, London, Sussex Theater, attic dance, Plymouth.

Back in germany he worked many years for the dance theater company „kunas modernus“ in Braunschweig (2005-8), at „TanzBremen-Festival“ (2001-15) many years with outdoor dance pieces. At „viertelfest“ and „la strada“, Bremen, „actiontheater festival“ /NOW in Berlin (2014-19), in Hildesheim, Warsaw, Poznan Festival, Tel Aviv, at „Eurosalem Festival“, Jerusalem, a german-spanish cooperation “Sala d espera” with Trinidad Martinez/ Ingo Reulecke performing at Altonale and in Spain, at „Spotlight festival“ Bremen 2015, choreografing for city Delmenhorst, at school dance projects/ tanzwerk Bremen/Verden (2001-now).

He became a yoga and pilates teacher, training in actiontheater, In-Touch Massage Therapist and Clinic Clown (TuT Hannover). 2019 joined „StelzenArt Bremen“ with stilt performances. 

In his teaching he combines applied anatomy (Bewegungsevolution, BMC, Axis Syllabus, fighting monkey) with contactimprovisation/partnering. 

Next to teaching and performing he is organizing Bremen-Jam-Festival, nordtanz Festival and Potsdam Jam (fabrik potsdam). He is from the beginning part of „lafdk Bremen“ and  „Tanzinitiative Bremen“ and eager to support the situation for freelance contemporary dancers in Bremen. One of the organizer of „Tanzdialoge Bremen“ with performing a duett in Nov. 2020 with Magali Sander Fett.
